NAMING CEREMONY (Namakarana)

Namakarana, or the Naming Ceremony, is one of the most joyful and significant samskaras (Vedic rites of passage) in Hindu tradition. It marks the formal announcement of a newborn’s name and symbolizes the beginning of their spiritual and social journey in this world. The ceremony is usually performed on the 11th, 12th, or 21st day after birth or on a later auspicious date, based on the baby’s nakshatra (birth star) and family traditions.

At Pourohityam booking, we honor the sacredness of this beautiful occasion by conducting the Namakarana Samskara with complete Vedic rituals, guided by experienced purohits who understand regional customs, family traditions, and astrological relevance. The puja invokes blessings from deities and ancestors, seeking protection, good health, intellect, and a bright future for the child.

Our purohit will perform:

  • Ganapathi Puja for auspicious beginnings

  • Sankalpa (personal intention setting with family details)

  • Jatakarma (chanting of baby’s nakshatra & star-related mantras)

  • Name announcement and whispering in the baby’s ear

  • Blessings from elders and family

  • Arati and distribution of prasadam

We also assist with choosing the right muhurtham, preparing the list of required items, and customizing the ritual as per your family's religious and cultural background—be it Smartha, Vaishnava, Shaiva, or regional traditions like Kannada, Telugu, Tamil, or Tulu.

Why Choose Us for Namakarana:

  • Purohits fluent in multiple languages and regional customs
