Akshaya Navami 2025 – A Day of Eternal Prosperity and Spiritual Growth

On 31 October 2025 (Friday), devotees across India and around the world celebrate Akshaya Navami, the ninth day (Navami Tithi) of the Shukla Paksha in the Kartika month. The Sanskrit word “Akshaya” means “imperishable” or “eternal,” signifying that any good act performed on this day yields results that never diminish.

According to Hindu scriptures, Akshaya Navami is considered as sacred as Akshaya Tritiya. It is believed that Lord Vishnu, the preserver of the universe, and Goddess Lakshmi, the goddess of wealth and fortune, bless devotees with abundance, happiness, and peace. The day also marks the beginning of the Satya Yuga according to certain Puranas, making it spiritually powerful.

One of the central rituals on Akshaya Navami is the worship of the Amla (Gooseberry) tree, which is considered a divine embodiment of Lord Vishnu. Devotees offer prayers, light lamps under the tree, and perform parikrama (circumambulation) while chanting Vishnu mantras. Consuming or offering Amla on this day is believed to cleanse one’s karma and bring good health.

Many devotees also perform Annadanam (food donation), distribute clothes and grains, and feed cows and birds as a symbol of compassion and gratitude. Charity done on Akshaya Navami is said to multiply manifold and bring Akshaya Punya—eternal spiritual merit.

Panchanga Highlights :

  • Tithi: Navami till 10:03 AM, then Dashami begins

  • Nakshatra: Dhanishta till 6:51 PM → Shatabhisha afterwards

  • Yoga: Vridhi Yoga (brings success and progress in all endeavors)

  • Sunrise / Sunset: 6:16 AM / 5:49 PM

  • Auspicious Time (Abhijit Muhurta): 11:48 AM – 12:32 PM

  • Inauspicious Periods: Rahu Kaal – 10:46 AM to 12:10 PM, Yamagandam – 2:57 PM to 4:21 PM

  • Season (Ritu): Hemanta (Pre-Winter)

As the Dhanishta Nakshatra transitions to Shatabhisha Nakshatra, it brings a shift from material prosperity to introspection and healing. This alignment supports meditation, fasting, and prayers for inner transformation.

Spiritual seekers often use this day to begin new vratas (vows), start holy recitations like the Bhagavad Gita Parayana, and visit sacred rivers for purification rituals. Families also perform Lakshmi-Narayana Puja at home, seeking divine grace for unbroken happiness, stability, and prosperity in their lives.

The essence of Akshaya Navami lies in its message — that righteous deeds, devotion, and generosity never fade. Every act of kindness performed today becomes a source of lasting good fortune.
