On 31 October 2025 (Friday), devotees across India and around the world celebrate Akshaya Navami, the ninth day (Navami Tithi) of the Shukla Paksha in the Kartika month. The Sanskrit word “Akshaya” means “imperishable” or “eternal,” signifying that any good act performed on this day yields results that never diminish.

According to Hindu scriptures, Akshaya Navami is considered as sacred as Akshaya Tritiya. It is believed that Lord Vishnu, the preserver of the universe, and Goddess Lakshmi, the goddess of wealth and fortune, bless devotees with abundance, happiness, and peace. The day also marks the beginning of the Satya Yuga according to certain Puranas, making it spiritually powerful.

One of the central rituals on Akshaya Navami is the worship of the Amla (Gooseberry) tree, which is considered a divine embodiment of Lord Vishnu. Devotees offer prayers, light lamps under the tree, and perform parikrama (circumambulation) while chanting Vishnu mantras.
